Jonas (Skip) Cook passed away suddenly on June 30, 2022, near his home in Grand Rapids, MB. He was a founding member of the Hydro Accountability Board. To honour his memory and legacy, this Board made a donation to his Sundance Family. We will also continue to advocate and raise awareness for hydro-impacted Indigenous communities in Manitoba.

Skip was a Cree Elder, fisherman, and Knowledge Keeper from Grand Rapids, Manitoba. He was well respected in his community and also an advocate for his people. He was a commercial fisher who graduated from Red River College as a millwright and belongs to the communities of Grand Rapids, and Misipawistik Cree Nation. Growing up in a hydro-affected community, he observed and lived the impacts on land and water.
